The collection is a tribute to Olympic superstar and communist teen idol Nadia Comāneci as well as Roma women of Romania, Maïtena's homeland. It also refers to women’s place in society during the communist regime and a tribute to all the women of Maïtena’s family and their sacrifice in order to survive a regime where oppression, fear and hunger reigned.
